More often than not his spare time was filled with fixing watches for clients and shops in Switzerland alike. Dubuis’ watchmaking talent was further put on a pedestal thanks to his deep passion and love for the art. His illustrious career working at two giants of the Swiss watch industry cemented his impact on watchmaking during the 20th century. Prior to that, he spent nine years working at Longines during the 1950s where he was repairing chronographs as part of the aftercare team. Roger Dubuis was a Swiss-born specialist watchmaker who spent two decades at Patek Philippe working on complicated timepieces. This Roger Dubuis Hommage Chronograph H37 Sector Salmon Dial (one out of 28 pieces ever made) is in very good condition with perfect mechanical functioning. Through the engraved sapphire case-back this mighty impressive movement can be enjoyed in all its mechanical beauty. Unsurprisingly, Patek Philippe also used this movement. Simply put this, movement is regarded as one of the most important chronograph movements of the era. The caliber is chronometer-graded, featuring 21 jewels, a monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, a straight-line lever escapement, a swan-neck micrometer regulator and a self-compensating Breguet spring. It bears the fine watchmaking quality emblem Seal of Geneva and was regulated by watchmaker Roger Dubuis himself. The Roger Dubuis Hommage Chronograph H37 Salmon Sector dial is powered by a manual movement, the caliber RD56, based upon the famous Lemania 2310 movement. This mind-blowing watch is further characterized by a bulletin d’observatoire, is signed horloger genevois and has a transparent sapphire case-back with intricate engraving, reminding us of the spirit of the legendary man behind the brand, watchmaker Roger Dubuis. The Roger Dubuis pin buckle is also made in white gold, ensuring the watch breathes refinement in and out. While the hour, minute, and seconds feuilles-shaped hands are finished in silver. The chronograph and minute sub-dial hands are blued. This bi-compax chronograph also features a pulsation scale surrounding the silver toned dial where a sector design draws all of these wonderful aspects together. The outer track and the sub-dials are finished in a beautiful salmon colour. Measuring up to its vintage standard, the 37mm case watch makes a larger impression on the wrist than would be expected, due to its smart body structure. The Roger Dubuis Hommage Chronograph H37 Salmon Sector dial has a distinct greyish white gold case with a polished finish on the concave white gold bezel and on the white gold lugs, the case sides spot a satin finish.
